The provision in all areas is excellent providing precise and exacting practice opportunities for children to consolidate what they know, help them remain curious and support their concentration. It is highly ambitious but so well scaffolded that it is accessible to everyone. The rationale for every choice of item/area is clear and the organisation highly supportive of children's independent play.

Leaders can discuss sequencing extremely well and explain their rationale for all aspects of provision with absolute clarity. They are exacting, have high ambitions for staff and children and are crystal clear on their expectations of pedagogy.

Teachers' lesson planning is very precise and nothing is left to chance. Everything is considered with creating long-term memory in mind.

I have had the privilege of working with New Bridge in the transition of children joining our school for many years now. They never cease to amaze me at the dedication, commitment, care and attention they provide each and every child and family attending their setting. Furthermore, the quality of education that they provide to children in the nursery means that when they leave the setting they are academically, socially and emotionally ready to make the transition up to Reception.

Early identification and scaffolding for SEND are excellent and the Federation SENDCO provides support to children, staff and families that is above and beyond. She is determined to ensure transitions to other setting provide continuity of support.

Behaviour for learning is exceptional. Children focus their attention for sustained periods in the nursery, play effectively together and teach each other with exemplary courtesy and consideration. It is very difficult to see children with disadvantage or SEND because they feel safe, confident and learn alongside their peers without distress – they are enabled to access the curriculum because teaching provides an excellent scaffold, relationships are warm and attuned and children feel safe.

New Bridge Nursery is a warm, welcoming, busy and dynamic environment where the staff really know their children and strive to meet their needs, particularly those children with special educational needs. Often, staff are already implementing strategies before I suggest them which demonstrates a proactive approach, engaged in identifying a child’s needs and meeting them there. I am always reassured when a child is under the wings of New Bridge Nursery, knowing that their development will be well nurtured and supported.

Staff carefully control what they say and when they speak to ensure children's cognitive load is not overwhelmed and to provide the opportunity for children to share their thinking. This means children are successful in their practice and staff check for understanding before moving on. Their assessment is accurate so their interventions and correction of misconceptions are accurate. Opportunities to support learning are not missed.
