About Us
Blagdon opened in 1937 and it was the first Nursery School in Reading. We are now one of three nursery schools that are part of the REYS Federation. We cater for children between the ages of 2 and 4 and we are situated in Whitley in South Reading near Junction 11 of the M4. We were rated as Outstanding in our last inspection in November 2018.
The Nursery School can accommodate 200 children at any one time. We offer up to 30 hours of free nursery education (subject to eligibility) and breakfast club between 8.00-9.00am for morning children, which is chargeable. Willows is our 2-year-old classroom which can accommodate up to 20 children per session. It is purpose built for our youngest children. It takes funded 2-year-old children (subject to eligibility).
We offer a broad and balanced provision following the Early Years Foundation Stage within 4 classes and also in our extensive grounds.
All staff are qualified as teachers or early years practitioners. Each child has their own Key Worker who works in partnership with the parents to ensure the best outcomes for the children.
We pride ourselves on ensuring all children get the best possible experiences by employing qualified skilled staff, a rich learning environment and having a strong inclusive ethos.
Children are registered on the waiting list for Willows as soon as possible, and they can start the term after their second birthday (subject to space being available). Children can register for Blagdon at the age of two years and are admitted the term after their third birthday if we have space for them.
We hope you enjoy looking at our website and learning more about us.
